To Parents of Students Receiving Services at the University of Utah Reading Clinic:

Due to the rapid spread of the COVID-19, effective at 2pm, Thursday, March 12, 2020, the UURC suspended all student intervention services at its Murray, Utah location.

Distance intervention services that were already taking place in student homes, or in schools that shifted services to homes, are continuing via remote access. If your child was receiving intervention on-site at the UURC, please know that we are working to scale up distance options. As we bring these increased services on-line, we will contact you (in order of most senior beginning date) to let you know the possibilities. If your student has been on the waiting list, we apologize for what will likely be a longer wait. At this point, events beyond our control will dictate whether or not our summer services proceed as planned.

When we re-open for student services at our Murray location, we will contact you by email.

In the meantime, when possible, please listen to your child read out loud to you at home. Also, if your child is reading at or above a G2 level, encourage him/her to silently read texts that he or she finds interesting, but slightly challenging. A good rule of thumb is: more than 1-2 errors in 10 words is too difficult.
