The University of Utah Reading Clinic's
Wilson Reading Systems® Level 1 Policies

WRS® Level 1 Certification Requirements:

  • Attend a 3-day WRS® Introductory Workshop within the last 5 years.
  • Submit tuition differential ($350) if educator attended a 3-day WRS® Introductory Workshop somewhere other than the UURC.
  • Submit WRS® Level I / UURC Scholarship Intent form.
  • Submit completed/signed University of Utah Credit Form with course fee.
  • Participants MUST complete 5 out of the 5 observations.
  • Participants MUST attend 3 out of the 4 coaching sessions.
  • Participants MUST attend 4 out of the 5 implementation meetings.

**If a participant fails to meet any requirement, his or her scholarship may be revoked.

Observations:

Participants are allowed to re-schedule no more than two observations. If an observation must be rescheduled, the trainer may elect to arrange a live observation or accept a videotape or conduct a web-based observation (web-based observations require a flexible neck document camera). Make-up observations must be completed within two weeks of the original observation date. If the missed observation does not take place within the two week window, the participant is considered to be re-scheduling for the 2nd time. No subsequent re-scheduling will be allowed. Subsequent missed observations constitute grounds for revocation of scholarship.

Participants are encouraged to complete all observations by the end of May; however, observations may be scheduled during the summer if necessary. Participants who do not complete their Level 1 certification within the 12 month time frame must apply to Wilson for an extension through their Wilson trainer.

**The UURC reserves the right to charge participants fees for any missed, re-scheduled, or extra observations.

Participants who drop:

  • If a participant withdraws from a WRS® Level 1 practicum, and it is too late for the UURC to receive a refund of registration fees from Wilson Language Training, the participant may reapply for the following year. If the participant is re-admitted, he or she may not receive a scholarship, but rather, may incur full tuition costs.
  • If a participant withdraws from a WRS® Level 1 practicum, and the UURC is able to receive a refund of registration fees from Wilson Language Training, the participant may reapply for another scholarship for the following year.
